Lipolysis/Belkyra® injections are used to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fullness associated with submental fat, aka "double-chin".
Synthetic versions of a naturally occurring bile acid are delivered to areas of concern under the chin, which breaks down the wall of the fat cells and is absorbed and naturally dissolved into your body. When injected into problemed areas, it can destroy fat cells by disrupting their cell membranes. This initiates a process where the destroyed fat cells enter the body’s waste system to be naturally flushed out.
This treatment can be performed alone, or in conjunction with dermal fillers to provide both definition and fat reduction to the chin and jawline areas.

Aftercare
This treatment involves a series of injections to treat the areas underneath the chin, we will ensure to use our knowledge and tools to reduce as much pain in the injection site as possible.
- The number of treatments that you will require will depend on your specific goals and anatomy.
- On average, 2 to 6 treatments are completed, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
- While these injections start working immediately, it will take your body time to remove the waste after the fat cells are destroyed, so it may take weeks for a noticeable difference.
- Swelling can be expected and typically lasts 3-7 days, we recommend icing the area periodically for the first 24 hours.
- Avoid aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, or high-doses of Omega 3, Vitamin E, or Tumeric for 48 hours. Only use Tylenol if needed.
- Typically clients experience slight bruising, and/or redness at the injection site which is usually gone within 2-3 days. You can use makeup to cover up any bruising but we recommend waiting at least 4 hours after your treatment before applying.
- No physical activity or workouts for 48 hours following your treatment.
- We recommend elevating your head to sleep by using a few extra pillows.
- Avoid facials, laser or light-based therapy for a minimum of 2 weeks
- Avoid exposure of the area to intense heat (sauna, hot tub, sunlamp, sunbathing), as this will also make for increased swelling until all redness and swelling have gone away.
